The Masquerade

A shallow world I forever must dwell
This world of pretend is all that I know
The swirling vortex of this living hell
Has quick consumed and drowned me in the show

Remaining hidden beneath a fake mask
They lie and taunt the object of their hate
I need to scream the truth I need to ask
What causes the hate, their malice and bait

The shadow must die the sham has to end
The mask will burn but the truth will prevail
My broken soul, the truth will at last mend
The truth will wing through like an awesome gale

The shadow is gone the hate washed away
At last we say what we needed to say.
